Why apply ground improvement techniques?

The most basic advantage for applying ground improvement techniques is to increase the bearing capacity and the stability of slopes at the construction area. It is also to prevent the excessive settlement of the surface of the area when structures like buildings, roads and others foundations are loaded. In earthquake-sensitive regions, the ground improvement used to increase the density of the fill mass and/or subsoil to prevent liquefaction and improve soil permeability in order to increase drainage capacity.
